Josh comes from humble beginnings with a knack for small business and helping the everyday person. Growing up, his mom was an in-home daycare provider, and his father was a self-employed plumber. During his younger years, he saw his stepfather build custom homes and watched his brother run a top-notch landscaping company outside Washington, D.C.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree at West Virginia University and his Master’s at George Mason in Education, Josh would spend his summers off as a teacher working for his brother’s landscaping company in project management, estimation, and marketing/customer relations. When his best friend and college roommate started an exterior remodeling company, Josh was his first employee working in sales and marketing. Later, Josh started his first website in the financial blogging space in 2017, which was later sold in December of 2021. Combining his background in marketing, exterior sales, and website development, Josh has helped numerous exterior remodeling contractors with their brand, web presence, and customer interactions.
With a theory that an “Informed homeowner is the best customer,” Josh has written hundreds of homeowner-centered articles in the exterior remodeling space. With a mission to provide homeowners with the best exterior remodeling advice possible, Josh started Exterior Smart in late 2023.
Combining his educational background, blogging experiences, and exterior marketing services, Josh has teamed up with industry leaders to provide one of the fastest-growing go-to websites for homeowners who want to learn more about the outside of their homes.
